Kapuska (Cabbage Stew) Recipe

Serving : 4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cabbage,
  • 1 onion,
  • 3/4 cup rice,
  • 4 cups water,
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
  • 2 teaspoons paprika,
  • Salt,
  • Black pepper,
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil.

Preparation

  1. Sauté the finely chopped onion in vegetable oil until tender,
  2. Add the tomato paste and stir for 1 minute,
  3. Add the paprika and stir,
  4. Finely chop the cabbage and add to the pan,
  5. Cook the cabbage while stirring occasionally until softened,
  6. Rinse and drain the rice grains,
  7. Add the rice along with 4 cups of water to the pan,
  8. Season the stew with salt and black pepper to taste,
  9. Put the lid on and cook over medium heat until the rice is fully cooked.
