Ground Beef Kapuska (Cabbage Stew) Recipe Ground Beef Kapuska (Cabbage Stew) Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500-600 g cabbage,
  • 200 g ground beef,
  • 1 onion,
  • 1/2 cup rice,
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil,
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
  • 1 tsp paprika,
  • Salt to taste,
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper,
  • 1/2 tsp cumin,
  • 3 cups water,

Preparation:

  1. Sauté the finely chopped onion in vegetable oil until tender,
  2. Add into the ground beef and cook until it becomes brownish,
  3. Add the tomato paste and stir for 1 minute,
  4. Add the paprika and stir,
  5. Finely chop the cabbage and add to the pan,
  6. Cook the cabbage while stirring occasionally until softened,
  7. Rinse and drain the rice grains,
  8. Add the rice along with 3 cups of water to the pan,
  9. Season the stew with salt, cumin and black pepper to taste,
  10. Put the lid on and cook over medium heat until the rice is fully cooked.
