Tas Kebab Recipe


  • 1/2 kg kuşbaşı
  • beef cut into bite-size pieces,
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced coarsely,
  • 1 medium onion, chopped coarsely,
  • 2 green peppers, chopped,
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
  • 1 tsp chilli,
  • 2 tsps butter,
  • Salt to taste,
  • 2 cups water at room temperature,
  • Vegetable oil to fry potatoes.


  1. In a deep bowl combine beef, onion, green pepper, tomato paste and chilli together,
  2. Put the mixture into a deep pan,
  3. Put butter on the mixture,
  4. Close a bowl (resistant to heat) over the mixture,
  5. Put a weight on the bowl,
  6. Add the water,
  7. Cook in low heat for 1-15 hours,
  8. Fry the potatoes 15-20 mins. before the cooking time,
  9. Remove the bowl,
  10. Add salt and stir, cook for another 5 mins, remove from heat,
  11. Add potatoes to the kebab and serve.
