Kolac Recipe


Kolac Kolac


  • 3 cups all purpose flour,
  • 1 cup warm water,
  • 1/2 table spoon dry yeast,
  • 1/2 table spoon sugar,
  • 1/4 table spoon salt,
  • Vegetable oil for frying.


  1. In a bowl mix well flour, dry yeast, sugar and salt,
  2. Add water gradually and knead,
  3. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic for about 10 minutes,
  4. Cover the bowl with a damp dish towel,
  5. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in size,
  6. Carefully divide the dough into 10 pieces,
  7. Shape each piece into a round,
  8. Coat a finger in flour, and gently press your finger into the center of each dough ball to form a ring,
  9. Wait for another 15 minutes to rise,
  10. Fry the oil in a large skillet pan in low heat,
  11. Place the kolacs in the hot oil and fry until golden,
  12. Turn and fry the other side as well,
  13. Using a skimmer or a slotted spoon, carefully remove fries from the oil and set aside to drain on a sieve.
