Kolac Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour,
- 1 cup warm water,
- 1/2 table spoon dry yeast,
- 1/2 table spoon sugar,
- 1/4 table spoon salt,
- Vegetable oil for frying.
Preparation
- In a bowl mix well flour, dry yeast, sugar and salt,
- Add water gradually and knead,
- Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic for about 10 minutes,
- Cover the bowl with a damp dish towel,
- Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in size,
- Carefully divide the dough into 10 pieces,
- Shape each piece into a round,
- Coat a finger in flour, and gently press your finger into the center of each dough ball to form a ring,
- Wait for another 15 minutes to rise,
- Fry the oil in a large skillet pan in low heat,
- Place the kolacs in the hot oil and fry until golden,
- Turn and fry the other side as well,
- Using a skimmer or a slotted spoon, carefully remove fries from the oil and set aside to drain on a sieve.
