Whole Wheat Flour Turkish Pastry (Pogaca) Recipe
Serving : 15-18 Buns
Ingredients
- 150 g butter,
- 3/4 cup lukewarm milk,
- 1 egg,
- 1 tbsp instant yeast,
- 1 tbsp sugar,
- 1 tsp salt,
- 3-3,5 cups whole wheat flour,
For topping;
- 1 egg yolk,
- 2-3 tbsps oatmeal.
Preparation
- Melt the butter and cool until lukewarm,
- In a deep bowl combine together the melted butter, milk, egg, sugar and yeast, set aside 2-3 mins.,
- Add flour one tbsp at a time and start to knead the dough,
- When you halved the flour add salt,
- Keep adding flour and kneading until you reach a soft and elastic dough,
- Make a ball and cover with a plastic wrap, set aside until it doubles in size for about 45 mins.-1 hour,
- Knead the dough again and make small balls,
- Place he balls into a baking sheet covered with parchement paper,
- Set aside for another 30 mins.,
- Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with oatmeal,
- Bake in a 180 C degrees pre-heated oven until golden.
