Cheese Filled Pastry Recipe
Serving : 15-20 Pieces
Ingredients
- 2 eggs (1 egg yolk to brush on top),
- 1 cup warm milk,
- 1 cup warm water,
- 150 gr. butter (melted),
- 6-7 cups flour,
- 10 gr. rapid-rise yeast,
- 2 tablespoon granulated sugar,
- 2 teaspoons salt,
- For filling; crumbled feta cheese.
Preparation
- Place 5 cups of flour in a large bowl,
- Stir in yeast, sugar and salt,
- Make a cavity in the centre and add, 1 egg, 1 egg yolk and melted butter,
- Start mixing with your hands while slowly adding warm water and milk,
- Finally add last 2 cups of flour slowly (you may not need all of it) and knead until you get a non-sticky dough,
- Cover the dough with kitchen towel and let it rest for 45 mins to rise,
- After it has risen, deflate the dough and knead for 1-2 mins,
- Pull small orange size pieces from the dough and press them flat on your palm,
- Place some cheese in the centre and fold it in half and press,
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper,
- Let rest for 15-20 more mins,
- Whisk together 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of sugar, then brush this mixture on top of the pastries,
- Bake at 190 degrees celsius preheated oven until the top is golden brown.
