Braid Dough Basket Recipe with Video

Serving : 3 Pieces

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs (yolk of one is for topping),
  • 2 cups flour,
  • 3/4 cup warm milk+water mixture,
  • 2 tsps instant yeast,
  • 1 tbsp sugar,
  • 2 tsps salt.

Preparation

  1. Place flour in a large bowl,
  2. Stir in yeast, sugar and salt,
  3. Make a cavity in the centre and add, 1 egg and 1 egg yolk,
  4. Start mixing with your hands while slowly adding warm water and milk,
  5. Make a soft, elastic dough,
  6. Cover the dough with kitchen towel and let it rest for 45 mins to rise,
  7. After it has risen, deflate the dough and knead for 1-2 mins,
  8. Pull small mandarine size pieces from the dough and roll in rectengular shape,
  9. Cut 1 cm strips,
  10. Grease a heat-resistant bowl with butter,
  11. Set 5-6 strips on the back of the bowl transverse,
  12. Braid the remaining strips around the bowl as seen in the pic. (also see the video here),
  13. When all the bowls are braided make 3 seperate breainds and place around the down side of the bowls,
  14. Bake at 160 degrees celsius preheated oven until golden,
  15. Remove bowls from braid basket when they become room temperature,
  16. Serve whatever you want inside.
