Cheese Filled Pastry Recipe
Serving : 25-30 Pieces
Ingredients
- 2 eggs (1 egg yolk will be brushed on top),
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil,
- 1/2 cup whole milk,
- 1/2 cup yoghurt,
- 2 teaspoons salt,
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar,
- 40 gr. rapid-rise yeast,
- 2 tablespoons butter at room temperature,
- Flour,
- Crumbled feta cheese,
- Poppy seeds, sesame seeds or black cumin seeds to sprinkle on top,
Preparation
- Stir together 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl,
- Make a cavity in the centre and add 1 egg, 1 egg white, vegetable oil, milk and yoghurt, then start mixing with your hands,
- Continue adding flour while mixing, until everything comes together to from a non-sticky dough,
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour,
- Now cut the butter into small pieces and combine it with the risen dough by kneading,
- Pull clementine size pieces from the dough, place some feta cheese in the centre of each piece and mold the dough around the cheese to form a pastry ball,
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper,
- Brush egg yolk on top and sprinkle on some poppy seeds, sesame seeds or black cumin seeds,
- Bake at 200 degrees celsius preheated oven until golden brown.
