Savory Black Cumin Cookies


Black Cumin Cookies


  • 2 eggs,
  • 250 gr melted butter,
  • 3 tablespoons yoghurt,
  • 6 cups all purpose flour,
  • 3 teaspoons salt,
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder,
  • 1 handful minced dill,
  • Black cumin seeds to coat.


  1. Stir together 5 cups of flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl,
  2. Add in the yoghurt, 1 egg and 1 egg white (seperate the yolk for topping),
  3. Pour in the melted butter and stir using a spatula,
  4. Mix everything together until you get a homogenous mixture,
  5. Stir in the minced dill,
  6. Finally add in the final 1 cup of flour slowly while mixing with your hands until everything comes together to form a dough (you may not need all the flour),
  7. Divide the dough into two pieces,
  8. Form each piece into a 5 cm cylindrical log,
  9. Brush with egg yolk and coat the sides with black cumin seeds,
  10. Cut into 1 cm slices and place on a baking sheet cut side down,
  11. Bake at 200 degrees celsius oven until golden.
