Gluten-Free Savory Cookies

A Delicious Alternative for Healthy Snacking
A gluten-free diet is becoming increasingly popular not only among those with celiac disease or wheat sensitivity but also among people who want to adopt a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. That’s exactly why my gluten-free savory cookie recipe is here to meet this need. With its simple preparation, nourishing ingredients, and crunchy texture, it’s bound to become your new favorite and a perfect companion for tea time.
What makes sorghum flour special?
This recipe uses sorghum flour, one of the easiest-to-digest gluten-free flours. Thanks to its high fiber content, it helps you feel full for longer and keeps blood sugar balanced. Using sorghum flour instead of rice or corn flour, which are more commonly used in gluten-free cookie recipes, increases the nutritional value while also introducing a new alternative among gluten-free flours. But if you’d prefer not to use sorghum flour, you can always substitute another gluten-free flour of your choice. Just remember to add it gradually and check the consistency.
A protein boost with chia seeds and sunflower seeds
One of the most important considerations in a gluten-free diet is getting enough protein. These savory cookies contain chia seeds, which are rich in omega-3 and protein, and sunflower seeds, which add both flavor and nutrition. Thanks to these two superfoods, these cookies aren’t just snacks—they also support your daily nutritional needs.
Standing out among cookie recipes
With a touch of cinnamon, this recipe brings a unique aroma. If you’re wondering where the idea of adding cinnamon to savory cookies came from, the inspiration is Beypazarı kurusu, a traditional Turkish savory cookie flavored with cinnamon that has an incredible aroma and taste. I thought cinnamon would balance the distinctive flavors of whole gluten-free flours, which aren’t to everyone’s liking and it worked perfectly.
Low FODMAP and gut-friendly
All the ingredients in this recipe can be made suitable for a low FODMAP diet (as long as lactose-free milk is used), meaning it’s also a safe choice for those with IBS or other digestive issues when consumed in proper portions.
Gluten-free lifestyles often emphasize sweet cookie recipes, so this savory option is a refreshing change. These gluten-free savory cookies can be enjoyed at breakfast or as a healthy snack during the day. They’re also a wholesome choice for children, free from additives and made with natural ingredients.
In conclusion…
If you’re looking for a gluten-free, high-fiber, filling, and gut-friendly snack, this recipe is just for you. And the best part it’s not only suitable for special diets but also a tasty treat everyone will love.
