Feta Cheese Pastry with Dill

Feta Cheese Pastry with Dill


  • 250 gr. margarine,
  • 1 cup warm milk,
  • 1 egg,
  • 40 gr. rapid-rise yeast,
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar,
  • 3 teaspoons salt,
  • All purpose flour,
  • For the top: 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon milk,
  • Half a bunch dill,
  • For filling: 250 gr. cheese (I used feta cheese).


  1. Mix together milk, sugar and yeast,
  2. Melt the margarin and let cool,
  3. In a bowl whisk together the margarine and egg,
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the bowl and mix,
  5. Start adding the flour slowly and mix with your hands until you get a smooth soft dough,
  6. Incorporate in the chopped dill,
  7. Let the dough rest and rise for 30 mins,
  8. Form clementine-size balls out of the dough and place some of the crumbled cheese in the centre of each ball,
  9. Place the balls of dough on a greased baking sheet,
  10. Brush the egg yolk / milk mixture on top and make patterns using a fork,
  11. Let the balls rest for 15-20 mins, then place them in a 200 degrees Celsius oven,
  12. Bake until golden brown.
