Hasan Pasha Kofte Recipe Hasan Pasha Kofte Recipe

Ingredients:

For kofte:

  • 400 gr. ground beef,
  • 1 onion,
  • 1 egg,
  • 2-3 tablespoons bread crumbs,
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Cumin.

For mashed potatoes:

  • 2-3 large potatoes,
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt
  • Black pepper.
  • Diced cheese like mozzarella, cheddar etc, that can melt.

For sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
  • 1 cup water,
  • Salt.

Preparation:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, grated onion, egg, bread crumbs, salt and spices together with your hands,
  2. Form small patties from the mixture forming a hollow in the centre of each patty,
  3. Place the patties on a greased baking pan and bake at 190 degrees Celsius until they turn dark brown,
  4. For the mashed potatoes, peel the potatoes off and boil them,
  5. Mash the boiled soft potatoes with a fork,
  6. Melt the butter in a large saucepan,
  7. Add the mashed potatoes and stir,
  8. Add the milk while stirring,
  9. Add the salt and black pepper and cook for 5 minutes over low heat,
  10. Place the diced cheese into the middle of the meatballs,
  11. Place the mashed potatoes in a piping bag and pipe them into the hollow of the cooked meat balls,
  12. Mix 1 tablespoon of tomato paste with water and pour the sauce over the meat balls,
  13. Bake them again until the mashed potatoes get slightly crispy and brown on the top.
