Freezer Borek Recipe

Serving : 25-30 Pieces

Ingredients

  • 3 yufka leaves,
  • 7 medium sized potatoes,
  • 1 cup of water Milk,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 heaping spoon of butter,
  • 1 tsp pepper flakes,
  • Salt to taste,
  • 1 cup of finely grated cheddar cheese.

Preparation

  1. Boil, peel and smash potatoes with a potato smasher or fork (do not use rondo or blender),
  2. Add the butter to the potatoes and stir well,
  3. In a different bowl beat eggs, milk, salt and pepper flakes,
  4. Add the mixture to the potatoes and mix quickly,
  5. Spread one of the yufka leaves on the counter,
  6. Spread 1/3 of the potato mixture as a thin layer on the yufka,
  7. Spread the second yufka over,
  8. Spread half of the remaining mixture  on the second yufka,
  9. Spread the last yufka on top of the mixture,
  10. Roll the three yufkas together,
  11. Cut it in half and place it on a baking sheet and set aside in the freezer for 2 hours,
  12. Remove it from the freezer and slice thinly and lay it horizontally on the oven tray covered with parchement paper,
  13. Toss the shredded cheddar cheese on the boreks,
  14. Bake in a 170-degree  pre-heated oven until golden.
