Chicken Borek Recipe


  • Half of a chicken breast,
  • 1,5 cups parmesan or mozzeralla cheese, grated,
  • 2 phyllo sheets,
  • 1 tomato, grated,
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil,
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated,
  • Salt and pepper to taste,
  • 1 egg yolk,
  • 1 tsp yogurt,
  • Sesame seeds and black cumin for topping.


  1. Boil 2 cups of water in a deep pan, add into the chicken breast and cook until tender,
  2. Drain the chicken breast and shred with your hands or a rondo,
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan,
  4. Add garlic and stir,
  5. Add tomato and cook for 5 mins.,
  6. Add salt and pepper and stir,
  7. Remove from heat and let cool,
  8. Spread one of the phyllo sheet on the counter,
  9. Brush with half of the tomato sauce,
  10. Spread half of the chicken and half of the cheese over and roll,
  11. Grease a 26 cm baking dish,
  12. Roll the rolled phyllo into the dish starting from the center,
  13. Prepare the second sheet with the remaining sauce, chicken and cheese and roll around the first sheet,
  14. Beat egg yolk and yogurt together,
  15. Brush the borek with the mixture,
  16. Sprinkle sesame seeds and black cumin on top,
  17. Bake in 170 C degrees pre-heated oven until golden.
