Ankara Tava (Ankara Casserole) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500 gr meat on the bone,
  • 1 cup vermicelli (of any shape),
  • 3 green peppers, chopped,
  • 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped,
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced,
  • 1/2 tbsp tomato paste,
  • 1 tbsp butter,
  • Salt and pepper to taste,
  • 2,5 cups boiling water,
  • Extra water to cook meat.

Preparation

  1. Place meat in a pressure cooker,
  2. Add some water and cook until tender,
  3. In a large pan melt butter,
  4. Add pepper and garlic, cook for 2-3 mins.,
  5. Add vermicelli and cook until golden,
  6. Add tomato paste and stir,
  7. Add tomatoes and cook for 5 mins.,
  8. Add meat, 2,5 cups water, salt and pepper and cook until vermicellis are done.
