Orzo Red Lentil Soup Recipe

Serving : 6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped,
  • 3/4 cup red lentil, washed and drained,
  • 1/2 cup orzo,
  • 5-6 cups boiling water,
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste,
  • 1 tbsp butter,
  • 1/2 tsp ground chilli,
  • Salt to taste,
  • Dried thyme,
  • Pepper flakes.

Preparation

  1. Heat the butter in a deep pan,
  2. Add into onions and cook until tender,
  3. Add tomato paste and cook stirring until smells cooked,
  4. Add ground chilli and stir well,
  5. Add 5 cups of boiling water and lentils, stir,
  6. Cover the lid and cook in low heat until lentils are softened,
  7. Blend the soup with a hand blender,
  8. Add orzo and cook until tender,
  9. Before removing from heat check the water amount and add if necessary and cook for 2-3 mins.,
  10. Add salt and spices, remove from heat

  1. Very Disappointed: Tastes like water with pasta, no flavour, I doubled the chili and added a bouillon cube and still like hot water September 14, 2021 11:53 am
    • Kevser: Sorry to hear that. There are two possible reasons for that. One: the ingredients you have used don’t have any taste. Second: you have loss of taste (maybe as a result of Covid 19 for example). Otherwise things you have mentioned doesn’t make any sense. September 14, 2021 2:15 pm
  2. Stef: Steps 5 and 8 make it sound like you cook first the lentils, blend, then cook the orzo. But step six sounds like you cook them at the same time. Maybe remove the word “orzo” from step 6 (?) January 26, 2022 2:42 pm
