Uzbek Pilaf Recipe
Serving : 4-6 Servings
Ingredients
- 250 g beef, finely chopped,
- 1 onion, chopped,
- 1 carrot, grated,
- 1 cup rice,
- 3 tbsps vegetable oil,
- 1 tbsp butter,
- 2 cloves of garlic, whole,
- 2 bay leaves,
- 1 tsp cumin,
- Salt to taste,
- 4 cups of boiling water.
Preparation
- Wash and drain the rice,
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan,
- Add beef and cook until brownish,
- Add onion and cook until tender, constantly stirring,
- Add carrot and cook for another 3-4 mins.,
- Add bay leaves and 2 cups of water, cover the lid and cook until the beef softens (about 30 mins.),
- 10 mins. before the beef is cooked heat butter in a large pan,
- Add rice and sautee until crispy,
- Remove bay leaves from the pan and add sauteed rice, salt, cumin, garlic and remaining water, stir well,
- Cover the lid and cook until the rice is tender,
- Turn off the heat, set aside for 10-15 mis. before serving.
