Berliner Recipe
Serving : 15-20 Pieces
Ingredients
- 1 cup lukewarm milk,
- 3 tbsps butter,
- 3 egg yolks,
- 3 tbsps sugar,
- 2 tsps instant yeast,
- 3-3,5 cups flour,
- Vegetable oil for frying,
- Cherry jam for filling,
- Powdered sugar for topping.
Preparation
- In a deep bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, sugar and yeast,
- Add egg yolks and whisk,
- Add flour part by part and combine everything together to form a soft non-sticky dough,
- Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm spot until it becomes double the size (45-60 min.),
- Cut the dough in half,
- Roll one piece out on a well-floured surface,
- Cut in circle shapes using cookie / biscuit cutters,
- Cover the shapes and let them rest for 30 mins,
- Heat oil in a pan with high sides and fry the doughnuts on both sides,
- After they cool down pipe in the jam and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
