Whole Wheat Flour Turkish Pastry (Pogaca)  Recipe

Serving : 15-18 Buns

Ingredients

  • 150 g butter,
  • 3/4 cup lukewarm milk,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast,
  • 1 tbsp sugar,
  • 1 tsp salt,
  • 3-3,5 cups whole wheat flour,

For topping;

  • 1 egg yolk,
  • 2-3 tbsps oatmeal.

Preparation

  1. Melt the butter and cool until lukewarm,
  2. In a deep bowl combine together the melted butter, milk, egg, sugar and yeast, set aside 2-3 mins.,
  3. Add flour one tbsp at a time and start to knead the dough,
  4. When you halved the flour add salt,
  5. Keep adding flour and kneading until you reach a soft and elastic dough,
  6. Make a ball and cover with a plastic wrap, set aside until it doubles in size for about 45 mins.-1 hour,
  7. Knead the dough again and make small balls,
  8. Place he balls into a baking sheet covered with parchement paper,
  9. Set aside for another 30 mins.,
  10. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with oatmeal,
  11. Bake in a 180 C degrees pre-heated oven until golden.
