Biber Dolma (Stuffed Bell Peppers) With Minced Meat Recipe
Biber Dolma (Stuffed Bell Peppers) With Minced Meat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 10 green bell peppers,
  • 200 gr. ground beef / lamb,
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1,5 cups rice,
  • 1 large onion,
  • 2-3 tomatoes,
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste,
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika,
  • Salt,
  • Black pepper,
  • Dried mint,
  • Red pepper flakes,
  • Water.

Preparation:

  1. Finely chop the onion and sauté in olive oil until translucent,
  2. Add the ground meat and cook until it turns brown,
  3. Add the tomato paste and stir for 1-2 mins,
  4. Add 1 finely chopped tomato and cook for 2-3 mins,
  5. Add the salt and paprika and stir,
  6. Add the rinsed rice and stir,
  7. Add 1,5 cups hot water, put the lid on and cook on medium heat until all the water is absorbed,
  8. Remove from heat add black pepper, dried mint and red pepper flakes to taste then stir well,
  9. Remove the seeds of bell peppers and stuff them loosely with the meat filling until full,
  10. Put 1 slice of tomato on each pepper,
  11. Place the stuffed peppers in a pan on a single layer,
  12. Mix together 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, paprika, salt and 2-3 cups of water,
  13. Pour this mixture in between the stuffed peppers in the pan, without getting the water into the peppers,
  14. Put the lid on and cook on low heat until the peppers are softened.
