Sarma (Stuffed Vine Leaves) Recipe
Serving : 4 Servings
Ingredients
- 400 g of vine leaves in brine,
- 1 cup rice,
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder,
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil,
- Salt,
- Pepper,
- Water.
Preparation
- Put the leaves in water and let stand over night,
- Soak with plenty of water,
- Take the oil and shredded onion in a sauté pan,
- Add tomato paste and red pepper powder and stir,
- Add rice and cook, stirring a few minutes,
- Add salt and spices you want and mix well, than remove from heat,
- Put a heaped teaspoon of rice mixture on to each leaf as shown on the photograph and roll,
- Add water just covering the rolls,
- Cook at low heat until soft.
