Canned Tomato Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 kg tomatoes, diced,
  • 1 kg green peppers, chopped,
  • 5 onions, chopped,
  • 10 cloves of garlic, garted,
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil,
  • Salt.

Preparation

  1. Heat oil in a large pan,
  2. Add onions, garlic and peppers and cook until tender,
  3. Add tomatoes and cook for 45 mins, occasionally stirring,
  4. Add salt and stir,
  5. At this point you can use a hand blender if you like your sauces smooth,
  6. Scoop the mixture into the jars,
  7. Seal the jars tight,
  8. Place the jars into a pressure canner or pressure cooker and cover with hot water,
  9. Cover the lid and cook for 3-5 mins after the steam comes out,
  10. Remove the jars from water and dry with a towel,
  11. Turn the jars upside down and set aside overnight,
  12. Keep in a cool place away from sun.
