Stale Bread Pizza Balls
Today I have an alternative recipe where you can both use your stale bread and prepare an easy snack. The simple dough prepared with stale bread, milk and eggs is rolled, filled with your favorite sauce and cheese and baked. Of course, it's also nice that they are baked, not fried.
One of the most important things to consider about the recipe is to pay attention to the amount of milk you add to the bread. The amount of milk you need to use will change according to the degree of staleness of your bread. Check the consistency by adding little by little. The final consistency should be wet, easily shaped but not too soft and not sticky.
The second thing you need to pay attention to is that the sauce and cheese you put in the pizza balls is not too much. If they are too much, the balls may crack and the cheese may leak.
Of course, pizza balls are not same as a real margherita pizza, but they are very close to the taste of pizza. I used romesco sauce for the filling, but you can use your favorite pizza sauce or tomato sauce (for example, the tomato sauce in the meatballs with tomato sauce recipe would be very suitable for stale bread pizza balls).
I don't like pepperoni or sausage on pizza, but if you like, you can add pepperoni, sausage or other pizza ingredients you like. However, at this point, it is useful to remind the warning not to put too much ingredients as filling I made above.
You can cover your pizza balls with roasted or white sesame seeds. If you don't want to use sesame seeds, you can use poppy seeds.
You can also bake the pizza balls in the airfryer instead of the oven.
You can store pizza balls in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, and freeze them for up to 6 months. When you want to eat, you can heat them in the oven or microwave.
