Canned Tomatoes Recipe


  • 5 kg tomatoes,
  • 1 tbsp salt.


  1. Wash, peel and diece tomatoes,
  2. Put into a large and deep pan,
  3. Add salt,
  4. In low heat cook, occasionally stirring until it starts to boil,
  5. Cook for 5-7 mins. after it starts to boil,
  6. Scoop the mixture into the jars,
  7. Seal the jars tight,
  8. Place the jars into a pressure canner or pressure cooker and cover with hot water,
  9. Cover the lid and cook for 3-5 mins after the steam comes out,
  10. Remove the jars from water and dry with a towel,
  11. Turn the jars upside down and set aside overnight,
  12. Keep in a cool place away from sun.

  1. seems a really basic recipe but what concerns me is the ‘canning’ method. it meets none of the safety requirements i find in the Ball Blue book or the NCHFP safety guidelines.. thats kinda scary to me…
