Bratkartoffeln Recipe
Bratkartoffeln is a delicious side dish in German cuisine. It actually has bacon in the original version. Before the onion, the bacon is stir fried in oil and removed from the pan. Then onion is added and the recipe is followed exactly. Butter is also added to the recipe from time to time. I didn't use bacon because we don't eat bacon. It is possible to use pastramy instead, but I didn't need it, I thought the recipe would better suit me when it's vegan. That's why I didn't use butter as well.
I know the successful combination of potatoes and butter from the butter roasted potatoes. But on the other hand, there is such a thing as potato salad recipe. The potatoes are not fried or roasted in any way, but they are very tasty. Potatoes are a vegetable that can be very tasty in different cooking methods. Kumpir recipe is another example of this.

In my opinion, Bratkartoffeln is closer to roasting in terms of cooking method.
To make Bratkartoffeln, the onion is first roasted and drained from the oil. This is done to prevent the onions from burning while the potatoes are roasting. On the other hand, potatoes are roasted in onion flavored oil. After the potatoes are roasted, the onions are added back to the potatoes and mixed.
As a result, bratkartoffeln is a delicious side dish that goes well with any main dish, as well as a light main dish that can be eaten together with yoghurt or vegan yoghurt.

- 8 tablespoons of olive oil,

Preparation
- Chop the onion finely,
- Heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan,
- Add the onion and stir fry until lightly caramelized,
- Remove the onions by straining them from the oil,
- Add 4 more tablespoons of olive oil to the pan and heat,
- Add the peeled and sliced potatoes and cook until golden brown by turning them occasionally,
- Add the onions, salt and pepper and mix.
