Sunflower Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

For the dough;

  • 2 cups flour,
  • 3/4-1 cup lukewarm water,
  • 1,5 tsp instant yeast,
  • 2 tsps sugar,
  • 1 tsp salt.

For filling;

  • 500 g ricotta cheese,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 bowl of chopped pasrley.

For topping;

  • 1 egg yolk,
  • Poppyseed.

Preparation:

  1. Put flour into a deep bowl and make a hole in the middle,
  2. Put sugar and instant yeast into teh hole,
  3. Add water little by little and mix with your fingers,
  4. Add salt and pour the remaining water,
  5. Knead until you reach a soft and elastic dough,
  6. Cover it with plastic wrap and set aside for 45 mins.,
  7. For filling mix all ingredients together,
  8. When the dogh dobles in size knead again, then, then divide the dough in two (one is a little bigger then the other),
    11. Roll a circle with the smaller one,
  9. Place 1/3 of the filling in the center of the circle and the remaining creating another circle around, as seen on the photos,
  10. Make another circle with the reaminin dough and cover it on the filling,
  11. Cut the excess dough in the edges and wet the borders and attach one to another using a fork,
  12. Place a bowl over the filling in the middle and press with your hands, make sure the two dough leaves stick together,
  13. Using a sharp knife cut the borders,
  14. Turn them upside 90°, press with your hands smoothly to flatten,
  15. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle poppyseeds over the middle part,
  16. Bake until golden in preheated oven at 190°C,
  17. Remove from oven and cover with a kitchen towel (yhis make it softer) fır 10-15 mins.
