Turkish Corn Bread Recipe with Video

Serving : 4-6 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 egg,
  • 1 cup milk,
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil,
  • 2.5 cups corn flour (not corn starch, corn flour is finely ground polenta flour),
  • 10 g baking powder,
  • Salt to taste.

How to make steps

Preparation

  1. Beat egg with salt,
  2. Add milk and vegetable oil and mix well,
  3. Add corn flour step by step and keep mixing,
  4. Add baking powder together with corn flour and mix (you can stir with a spatula towards the end),
  5. Grease a 26 cm baking dish and pour the batter,
  6. Make slice shaped lines on top with a knife,
  7. Bake in a 180 C degrees oven until golden on top.

  2. Ebru: Hello. I followed exact steps and the dough turned out like this. I am about to put it in the oven to see how it turns but not sure why yours looks more liquid than mine.

    • Kevser: Based on the color, I guess you might have used pre-cooked corn meal (p.a.n.). This could lead to a change in texture. Actually, even if you use the same type of flour, the texture can vary each time, so you should add the flour gradually and as needed each time. November 3, 2024 3:25 pm
